Plastic Deformation Mechanism and Slip Transmission Behavior of Commercially Pure Ti during In Situ Tensile Deformation

نویسندگان

چکیده

The plastic deformation modes of commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) were studied using an in situ tensile test monitored by electron-backscatter-diffraction (EBSD) assisted slip trace analysis. strain was primarily accommodated prismatic slip, followed twins and pyramidal slip. transmission between two adjacent grains predicted the geometric compatibility factor m?, which influenced not only degree stress concentration but also activity dislocation systems. Stress mainly occurred at GBs with m? less than 0.5 could be released activities or high critical shear (CRSS).

Transformation from slip to plastic flow deformation mechanism during tensile deformation of zirconium nanocontacts

Various types of nanometer-sized structures have been applied to advanced functional and structural devices. Inherent structures, thermal stability, and properties of such nanostructures are emphasized when their size is decreased to several nanometers, especially, to several atoms. In this study, we observed the atomistic tensile deformation process of zirconium nanocontacts, which are typical...

Simulation of Plastic Deformation Behavior of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy by Finite Element Method

Mechanical properties of alloys have a strong relation with microstructure and determination of their behavior can lead to multiple advantages. To obtain this goal, finite element method )FEM( is one of the best ways. In this study a series of experiments were carried out on the produced Ti-6Al-4V to obtain its mechanical characteristics and to prepare it for photographing in micro dimensions. ...

Tensile deformation mechanisms of an in-situ Ti-based metallic glass matrix composite at cryogenic temperature

Remarkable tensile ductility was first obtained in an in-situ Ti-based bulk metallic glass (BMG) composite at cryogenic temperature (77 K). The novel cryogenic tensile plasticity is related to the effective accommodation of ductile body-centered cubic dendrites at 77 K, characteristic of the prevailing slip bands and dislocations, as well as lattice disorder, which can effectively hinder the pr...

Damage Behavior in Modern Automotive High Strength Dual Phase Steels During Uniaxial Tensile Deformation

In the present research, damage mechanisms during room temperature uniaxial tensile testing of two different modern high strength dual phase steels,DP780 and DP980, were studied. Detailed microstructural characterization of the strained and sectioned samples was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results revealed that interface decohesion, especially at the triple junctions of...

Mechanical Properties of Commercially Pure Titanium Grade 2 after Severe Plastic Deformation

Mechanical properties and microstructures of commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti) developed by a newly designed multi-pass equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) process and cold drawing were investigated. The ECAP apparatus was developed in order to improve the efficiency of common ECAP and the performance of finished products. A much stronger CP-Ti billet was produced by using the proposed proce...
